The new update of WhatsApp will allow users to "lock chats".

Meta-owned messaging app WhatsApp is set to enhance privacy for its users with the introduction of a new update. According to WaBetaInfo, the forthcoming update will feature a "lock chat" option that enables users to lock and conceal individual chats. Currently in development, the feature is not yet available for beta testing but will be incorporated into a future version of the app. With this update, users will have the ability to lock specific conversations with a fingerprint or passcode, ensuring that confidential information remains secure and hidden from unauthorized access.

As per the screenshot provided, WhatsApp is developing a new feature that would enable users to lock their private conversations directly from the chat's contact or group information screen. Once a chat is added to the list of locked chats, it will only be accessible within this screen. Furthermore, the chat will be locked with a fingerprint or passcode, making it extremely difficult for anyone else to access the conversation without authorization. According to the app-tracking website, this feature will significantly enhance the privacy of WhatsApp users and provide them with greater control over their sensitive conversations.

The upcoming lock chat feature on WhatsApp will ensure that a locked chat cannot be opened without the correct fingerprint or passcode. If someone else attempts to access the chat without the necessary authentication, they would need to clear the chat to gain access. The feature adds an extra layer of security to the app and helps prevent unauthorized access and peeking at private conversations. Additionally, media files such as photos and videos sent within a locked chat will not be automatically saved in the phone's gallery, thereby offering greater protection and privacy to users.
