In response to a tweet from Twitter Verified regarding the launch of "Verified Organisations" on the social media platform, Elon Musk has emphasized the importance of distinguishing whether an individual truly belongs to an organization they claim to be affiliated with, in order to prevent impersonation.
According to the tweet from Twitter Verified, "Verified Organizations" is a new feature that allows organizations and their affiliates to establish themselves as distinct entities on Twitter. Rather than relying solely on Twitter to verify which accounts should be verified, organizations that register for "Verified Organizations" are given full control over vetting and verifying the accounts that are associated with them.
Those who are affiliated with a company will receive an affiliate badge and the organization's logo on their profiles, as well as being featured on the organization's Twitter profile to indicate their affiliation.
The tweet from Twitter Verified further stated that all organizations are thoroughly vetted prior to being granted access to Verified Organisations. The social media platform has witnessed a wide range of companies, such as sports teams, news organizations, financial firms, Fortune 500 corporations, and non-profit organizations, sign up for Verified Organisations and openly list their affiliated accounts on their profiles.
Furthermore, Verified Organisations are accessible worldwide, and eligible companies will receive invitations via email. The subscribing organizations will be awarded a gold checkmark and square avatar if they are a business or non-profit organization, or a grey checkmark and circular avatar if they are a governmental or multilateral organization.
