All Steam users have received an urgent warning that they could lose their access to their gaming library in a matter of months. Take immediate action to prevent the loss of your games.
A major change at the biggest online storefront for PC games has put the safety of thousands of gaming libraries at risk. Starting January 1, 2024, Steam will no longer support Windows 7, 8, and 8.1, which means that players who use these operating systems will no longer be able to store or play games through Steam. Even if games have been downloaded prior to this date, they will become inaccessible. The solution to this problem is to upgrade to Windows 10 or a higher version. To determine if you will be affected, you can check your computer's operating system in Settings. Steam has stated that users need to update to a more recent version of Windows in order to continue running Steam and any games or products purchased through the platform.
