MSI is getting ready to release DIY-APE motherboards for AMD B650 with rear connectors.

The company plans to broaden its selection by offering highly personalized AMD motherboards.

MSI and MaxSun will also introduce more mid-range options using their DIY-APE design alongside ASUS. It's worth noting that the name of the concept series isn't the final product name - ASUS recently released their TUF B760M BTF (Back to the Future) motherboard for Intel LGA1700 CPUs, while MSI had their Project Zero.

The central concept behind this project is to optimize cable management by concealing cables entirely. This involves moving all power connectors, fan headers, storage, and peripheral connectivity to the back of the motherboard. However, this approach necessitates a compatible case, or there would be no way to connect any connector.

According to reports, two MSI AMD B650 motherboards have entered a qualification stage, indicating that the final product launch is still weeks, if not months, away. However, rushing to market with such a distinctive concept is not advisable.

Customers should be mindful of compatibility issues regarding DIY-APE motherboards, as only certain cases will work with them. The original post on Bilibili displays at least two case designs compatible with the DIY-APE series.

With the involvement of at least three motherboard manufacturers (Maxsun, ASUS, and MSI), the market acceptance of the DIY-APE series is likely to accelerate in the following months. Gigabyte has its own Project Stealth, though it is not connected to the DIY-APE initiative.
