On Saturday, the billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk made a bold statement on Twitter, suggesting that if Donald Trump is indicted, he will significantly win the 2024 presidential election.

There have been ongoing discussions among prosecutors about the possibility of indicting the former president based on accusations of hush payments made to adult film actress Stormy Daniels before the 2016 election.

Donald Trump has recently stated that he expects to be arrested on Tuesday.

On Saturday morning, Musk tweeted that if a particular event occurs, it will result in Trump winning the election by a considerable margin. Musk's tweet was in response to a claim that Trump could be handcuffed if he were to be arrested. In October, Musk took over Twitter, and in May 2022, he tweeted the poop emoji in response to a tweet from then-CEO of Twitter, Parag Agrawal. Some saw this as a critique of Agrawal's previous remarks about dealing with bots on the platform. This tweet was presented as evidence in a lawsuit alleging that Musk had breached his obligations under the merger agreement he signed when he took control of the platform. Today, when MailOnline contacted Twitter's press office, they responded with the poop emoji.

On Saturday, the billionaire tweeted that if the former president is indicted, he believes Donald Trump will emerge victorious in the 2024 presidential election.

In a tweet on Friday, Musk announced that he would publicly release the algorithm used to recommend tweets. According to Musk, the code behind the tweet recommendations will be made open source by the end of March. Musk acknowledged that there may be some silly discoveries, but issues will be promptly addressed. Despite the initial potential embarrassment, Musk believes that the move toward code transparency will lead to rapid improvement in the quality of tweet recommendations. Musk also criticized Twitter's current recommendation algorithm, arguing that it needs to be more complex and better understood within the company. As a result, Musk and his team are working on a simplified approach to present more compelling tweets, although it is still a work in progress.

On Friday, Musk announced his plans to publicly release the previously confidential algorithm for recommending tweets.

According to a software ecosystem foundation, releasing the algorithm as open source would allow developers, including potential competitors, to add their own modifications to the code. Musk has been attempting to shift Twitter away from advertising and toward a subscription-based model, an idea that Meta is also testing. Earlier this month, Meta, the parent company of Facebook and Instagram, announced that it is developing a new social media network for sharing text updates. The project is viewed by some as a potential challenger to Twitter. Meta stated they are exploring creating a separate space where public figures and creators can share timely updates about their interests.
